Types of Biryani

India is the country famous for its mouth watering flavours. Biryani is one of the most famous foods of india & is admired  in  the whole country.  These are the 5 types of birayni in india you must try atleast once in your life time.

1. Hyderabadi biryani

Hyderabadi biryani is cooked in two ways,  one is kachi & other is pakki or yakhni. In kachi biryani,  meat is layered first & then layering of basmati is done,  & in yakhni the meat is layered above rhe rice. In hyderabad biryani is made in bulk  & kachi biryani is prefference. It is believed that flavour has irani influence in hyderabad's food.

2. Malbar biryani

Malbar biryani is made in malbar coast of india. It has the influence of arabs. Unlike other biryanis, tomatoes are also added in malbar biryani. It is spicier than any biyani you will eat. Served  with date pickle & raita

3. 2 Gosht ki biryani

As the name suggest this biryani is made of two types of meats, mainly mutton & chicken kofta. The flavour of meat is more dominant in 2 gosht ki biryani. It is influenced from middle east.  Rampur is the place famous for 2 gosht ki biryani.

4. Kolkata biryani

Kolkata biryani has potatoes added in it. When wajid ali moved to kolkata from lucknow,  he found that potato,  which was an exotic food in those times, very tasty & ordered his cooks to add potatoes to biryani, since then without potatoes, kolkata biryani is incomplete. Potatoes give mashy flavors to biryani

5. Lucknowi biryani

Lucknowi biryani is basically not biryani,  it is yakhni pulao,  but it is sold in market in the name of biryani as the people are more connected to it by the name of biryani.  Unlike hyderabadi biryani it is cooked in small portions so that rice is not compressed because of weight.  The taste is remarkable.

Jaunsar - The land of witches

Every child is fond of listening to stories, specially if the story is mysterious. When i was a child,  my nanaji used to  tell me stories of many mysterious places in uttrakhand. One of the heated topic on those stories were of jaunsar, a place in uttrakhand where people believe witches exist.  The story, that i remember from my nanaji's side is that once my nanaji's grandfather went to jaunsar for development of roads. Hence he wondered that all the stories from jaunsar were a myth & other engineers were not ready to go there, he got ready for the project of jaunsar. The day he reached jaunsar a cat tried to enter the flat alloted to him, which looked a little bigger than the normal cat. While the cat was trying to enter through the window, he threw wooden photo frame on the cat. He was really terrified by the cat because of it's abnormal size, he had understood that it was one of the witches of jaunsar. The next day when he woke up he noticed that one of the woman ...

Swala : Haunted village of uttrakhand

Uttrakhand is land of gods, and if god is there, the devils is there too. There are several places in uttrakhand that are considered as haunted by many of the people, and one of those places is sawla village. Sawla village lies in champawat district of uttrakhand, kumaon region.  There is a story that in 1950's, a military  vehicle was passing through that route, which accidentally fell down the road and all the soldiers were badly injured. They were screaming out of pain, people of sawla village rushed towards them & except helping them they looted all their belongings & left the soldiers there to die. From that day the ghosts of those soldiers are haunting the village & if anyone tries to enter the village, they drag him/her to the same place where they died. A temple was also made so that they stop haunting the village but nothing worked. To confirm if it's a myth or reality me and chachaji reached there one day.  We asked the people of nearby villages abou...
